Candle Lighting Ceremony

The unity candle wedding is the most of the unity ceremonies. It involves both partners pouring sand into a single container, symbolizing their life-long commitment and the joining of their two lives. Sometimes parents are included as well, to symbolize the blending of families.

Even though you may have seen this ceremony a time or two before, that doesn’t mean it can’t be personalized to fit your style. To make it your own, consider the color of the sand, where it came from (maybe it’s from a vacation spot) and the vessel that you choose to pour it into. It could be a monogrammed decanter or a special ceremony frame that has your wedding date on it.

Everything to do with the ceremony is special. It doesn’t have to be just lighting a candle, you could write special things to say to each other during this time. The purpose is to express unity and the couple becoming one. Make this as special as you can by making a very personal moment.

Many couples spend so much time dealing with other aspects of their wedding preparations that they forget to focus on creating a powerful unity ceremony. There are many different candles and displays online to help with this part of the ceremony.

Discuss this with your officiant too. Their input might be invaluable to make this time special.

Note: Each special wedding has a fee of $100 for the Officiant’s costume and specific ceremony and is paid at the time of booking.
